Brethren,
I encourage every Brother to remain active and engaged in the work of the Lodge. Your attendance, participation, and support are what keep our Lodge strong and vibrant. Whether assisting with degree work, attending meetings, mentoring newer Brothers, or simply sharing fellowship at dinner before Lodge, every contribution matters.
At the 197th Annual Grand Communication, The Grand Lodge of Florida adopted a regulation creating a Mentoring Committee which will establish a Mentoring Program.
The regulation reads: 13.21.5 The Committee on Mentoring Program shall assist in mentoring Particular Lodges in the Grand Jurisdiction of Florida for Candidates, newly Initiated, Passed, and Raised Brothers with the Mentoring Program that was approved by the Corporate Board. (2026)
In support of this program I have added Mentoring for all Brothers and Candidates as part of our Stated and Called Communications at 7pm as well as on Tuesday evenings during Lodge of Instruction.

From the West

Greetings from the West, Brethren,
As we welcome the month of June and approach the Summer Solstice, the sun is at its meridian height, reminding us of the warmth and vitality of our fraternity. Our labors in the Lodge continue to bear fruit, but our success relies on the strength and dedication of every Brother.
This June, let us rededicate ourselves to the core principles of our Craft:Brotherly Love…Charity…and Integrity.
I encourage all brethren to attend our upcoming meetings and fellowship events to strengthen the bonds that unite us.
Your presence not only strengthens our Lodge but supports our newly initiated Brethren as they travel the path of Freemasonry.
"The grand object of Masonry is the happiness of the human race." — Brother George Washington
Fraternally,
Derik Brasher
Senior Warden

From the South

Brethren,
June is a month that reminds us of both refreshment and labor as summer approaches. It also is the season of family gatherings, travel and fellowship. As Junior Warden I'm reminded of the responsibility of making sure that harmony and fellowship prevail in the lodge and your responsibility outside the walls of the lodge. We must be a cheerful spirit, a listening ear and a helping hand to each to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and to all mankind. So as we move through the summer months may we continue to work together in peace, harmony and brotherly love to accomplish our goals.
Fraternally,
Jesse Mercado
Junior Warden

From the Secretary

Fraternal greetings Brothers.
First and foremost, I would like to congratulate R:.W:. Alexandre Ferrari on his appointment as our District Deputy. R:.W:. Ferrari was a fine District Instructor and will be a fine District Deputy as well. Congratulations are also in order to for our newly appointed District Instructor, R:. H:. Brian Work of Boynton Lodge No. 236. I look forward to his visits and educational programs; our lodge will offer both District Appointees total support.
We are half way into the year, dues statements were mailed out mid-October 2025 which brings us to seven or so months ago. We have many Brothers who have not remitted their 2026 dues. Per Grand Lodge directive, I must now inform all those who have not paid that they are receiving a First Late notice. The notice will include payment methods and amounts due. Please be mindful of your obligations and remit dues promptly.
Our Worshipful Master is constantly trying to improve and enhance our Tresteboard and asked me for a complete list of every Perpetual Member, living or deceased. One may inquire why a deceased Brother? When a Brother purchases a Perpetual Membership, Honorary or Memorial membership, the dollars used to purchase the member is accruing interest indefinitely and a percentage of the interest Grand Lodge allocates back to the Lodge. These memberships are a win for all who decide to purchase one. The WM will list all Honorary and Memorial memberships as well so that these Brothers are also remembered and honored.
I am saving the best for last. W:. Michael Weinberg will be flying out to Dallas, Texas on Saturday May 30th to receive the honor of being inducted into the Royal Order of Scotland. The Royal Order of Scotland is an appendant body which one cannot ask to join, one must be invited. A while ago, W:.. Weinberg was approached by a Royal Order member and told that he was not ready to be initiated and should continue on the Masonic path he was on. The Royal order of Scotland has no lodges in America and one had to fly to Scotland to be initiated. Now there is a Provincial Grand Lodge in different States for the purpose of conducting the necessary rituals in order to bring in new members. W:. Weinberg has made great strides from the time he walked into the lodge to inquire on membership to where he is today. I personally thank R:.H:. Sal Musumeci for the time he spent with Michael in tutoring and grooming him to be the fine Mason he is today, and most worthy of receiving this honor.
F&S,
R:.W:. Sinatra

Chaplain's Corner

Brethren,
How will you celebrate Flag Day? I’m sure you will see many flags waving. Contrary to popular legend, the first official flag of the United States was not designed by George Washington or Betsy Ross, but by Francis Hopkinson. His design was approved on June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress made the following resolution: The flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.
Seeing all those flags waving, you may have a chance to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The Pledge was written by Francis Bellamy in 1892, for a public school program. The original words were: “I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” The words “my flag” were replaced with “the flag of the United States of America” in 1924, and “under God” was added in 1954.
Often, either before or after the Pledge, our National Anthem, Star Spangled Banner, is sung. The words to this song were written by yet another Francis, Francis Scott Key. He wrote the lyrics to be sung to the tune of a song called To Anacreon in Heaven, which had been composed by John Stafford Smith.
Will you read the Declaration of Independence? It was written by a committee of five men, at least 2 of whom were Freemasons, and signed by 56 men, of which up to a third were Freemasons (documentation of some being lost, we don’t know for sure).
Maybe your day will include a parade. Those guys in the funny hats driving the tiny cars? They are Shriners, famous for providing free care to children in their world-renowned Shriners Hospitals for Children. Every Shriner is a Freemason.
Will you have a cookout? Henry Ford was instrumental in developing charcoal briquettes. When his brother-in-law, E.G. Kingsford, took over the manufacture of them, he called them “Kingsford.” For the record, Francis Hopkinson, Francis Bellamy, Francis Scott Key, John Stafford Smith and Henry Ford were all Freemasons.
However you celebrate, have a glorious, safe, and happy Flag Day.
May the GAOTU continue to watch over all those who need His healing power wherever so dispersed across the globe. SMIB
Fraternally,
W∴Howie Zimmerman
Chaplain

Historian's Corner

Boca-Delray Lodge No. 171 embodies more than a century of Masonic tradition in south Palm Beach County. Its roots reach back to the early days of Freemasonry in Florida and the development of our local communities. By exploring the history of the lodges that preceded it, we honor the legacy of the Brothers who built the foundation of our fraternity.
Freemasonry in Florida and Early Local Lodges
Freemasonry in Florida began in the early 1800s. The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of the State of Florida was established in 1830 not long after Florida became a U.S. territory and then a state in 1845. Early lodges formed as settlers spread throughout the peninsula promoting fellowship moral development and community service.
Delray Lodge No. 171
In the early 20th century as the population of south Florida increased Freemasonry expanded to meet the needs of new communities. In 1908 the Grand Lodge of Florida chartered Delray Lodge No. 171 in what was then Dade County. The establishment of Delray Lodge marked an important milestone in organized Masonic activity in the area. It provided a place for Brothers to gather uphold ancient Masonic traditions and contribute to the civic and charitable life of the growing community.
Shortly afterward in 1909 the county lines were redrawn and Palm Beach County was created. Over the next decade the town we now call Delray Beach continued to grow and flourish as Freemasonry became a valued part of the social and cultural landscape.
Boca Raton Lodge No. 328
As the town of Boca Raton developed in the early 1900s and expanded significantly in the 1920s and beyond Boca Raton also became a center of Masonic activity. About fifty years after Delray Lodge was chartered the Grand Lodge of Florida chartered Boca Raton Lodge No. 328 to serve the growing community of Boca Raton and south Palm Beach County. This lodge too became a center for fellowship education and community service.
Although exact dates for the charter of Lodge No. 328 are less easily found online it was established approximately in the mid-20th century as Boca Raton’s population increased following World War Two. Local historians and lodge records can provide the precise year if needed.
The Merger and the Birth of Boca-Delray Lodge No. 171
By the late 20th century both lodges had long traditions but membership shifts and the desire to strengthen the fraternity in our area led to a major decision. The leadership and membership of Delray Lodge No. 171 and Boca Raton Lodge No. 328 agreed to unite their histories resources and membership into a single lodge. Nearly half a century after Boca Raton Lodge was chartered the two lodges merged under the historic lodge number 171. This united lodge took the name Boca-Delray Lodge No. 171 with its headquarters in Boca Raton.
In 2026 the lodge celebrated its 118th annual installation of officers, highlighting the longevity and continuity of Masonic tradition that continues unbroken from the original Delray Lodge through today’s Boca-Delray Lodge.
Today’s Lodge and Its Legacy
Today Boca-Delray Lodge No. 171 continues the work begun by Brothers more than a century ago. The lodge remains a center for fellowship education and service in Boca Raton and south Palm Beach County. As members we build on the principles that have stood the test of time: brotherly love relief and truth.
Understanding the dates and milestones that shaped our lodge helps us appreciate the depth of our heritage and the enduring spirit of Freemasonry in our community.
Fraternally,
Bro. Sam Goldstein Historian

The Grand Lodge of Florida developed this comprehensive course of study to instruct Brothers on the proper procedures and responsibilities of each Lodge Officer, and how to conduct the important business of their particular Lodge. Courses are presented by the District Chairman, and a certificate is issued upon successful completion of all 15
modules.
The Grand Lodge of Florida provides Master Mason Examinations to be open book type exams designed to give any Master Mason the opportunity to increase his knowledge of some of the Ancient Tenets, Rules, and Regulations of Masonry. They contain a mixture of multiple choice, True or False, or essay questions which should be answered on the answer sheet, as provided in the exam downloads.
The Grand Lodge of Florida encourages all members of the Craft to further their knowledge of Lodge operation, especially those concerning the Elected and Appointed
Officers of each particular Lodge. The Lodge Officers Training program was designed to educate and test your knowledge of Lodge procedures, business, penal code, and other areas. Let There Be Light
