Brethren,
As we enter the month of November, we find ourselves in a season of reflection and gratitude. This year has been full of labor, fellowship, and progress — and for that, I am deeply thankful. The work we do together inside the Lodge and out in our community strengthens the bonds of brotherhood that distinguish our Craft.
November often reminds us of the importance of remembering those who have come before us. Let us take time to honor the legacy of our Past Masters, mentors, and brethren who laid the foundation upon which we continue to build. Their dedication and love for the Craft inspire our journey still.
This month, our focus in Lodge will be on furthering Masonic education and ensuring our new Brothers feel supported as they advance in their degrees. I encourage everyone to attend and share in the light of discussion, mentorship, and study. We are at our best when we grow together.
As Thanksgiving approaches, may we carry the spirit of charity and compassion into every interaction — inside the Lodge and in our daily lives. Let us remember that the most meaningful gifts we give are not material, but rooted in kindness, understanding, and service.
We will be dark for the second meeting in December(12/18/2025). Please make note on your calendars
We will be having our Installation on the 27th of December, 2025. More details to follow
Thank you for your continued commitment, your time, and the brotherhood you bring to our Lodge. May peace and harmony prevail in all your endeavors this month.

From the Secretary

Fraternal Greetings Brethren,
I hope that all has been well with you and your families.
You should have received your 2026 dues statements in the mail; if you have not,
please inform me so that a duplicate can be mailed. It would be greatly
appreciated if donations were made to the Masonic Home of Florida, the building
fund and relief fund as well. It is unfortunate that we still have a number of
Brothers who have not remitted their 2025 dues and stand a chance of being
dropped from good standing on December 27 th . Once you are not in good
standing and later decide to be reinstated, you must have a background
investigation performed, submit a reinstatement petition, have interviews
conducted and be balloted on again. Please do not subject yourself to all of this,
pay your 2025 dues ASAP.
Our District Deputy, R:.W:. Kirkiles will be conducting his official visit on
December 4 th , please attend lodge and offer your support for the Lodge and for R:
W:. Kirkiles. On the same evening, we will also be balloting on officers for 2026.
This is an important function that the Craft participates in each year as we select
those who will lead our membership for their term in office. We have several
strong, well qualified candidates that I know will take their duties and
responsibilities to heart and who all have taken their required Masonic Education
Courses.
A word on proper Masonic protocol. There are times when a Brother has retired
from the armed forces and uses his military tiles in conjunction with his Masonic
title. The same is for those who may be a medical doctor, lawyer, or politician.
An example would be when President Truman, a Past Grand Master of Missouri
entered a lodge and was introduced as President Truman. President Truman
kindly corrected the Brother and loosely stated, in this building I am “Brother
Truman”. He was modest as he could have been addressed as “Most Worshipful
Truman”. Addressing oneself as Doctor Brother Smith is not appropriate.
Also, my Brothers, there is a certain decorum that Masons adhere to when
attending a Masonic Funeral. Brothers should wear a black suite (black jacket
and trousers that match will suffice), black shoes, black tie, black belt and white
shirt. No Masonic lapel pins or emblems on white gloves which the Brother can
provide his own or can use a pair from the Lodge’s Funeral kit. Plane White
aprons are also worn. Brethren, at a funeral, we are all equal in the Eyes of the
Grand Master of The Universe. Please Brethren, attire yourself with pride, dignity
and respect for our Fraternity and the departed Brother.

Cybersecurity tips to help you prevent disclosing sensitive
R:.W:. Sinatra
What Is Smishing?
Many organizations, products, and services have started offering text
message alerts to keep you informed. But cybercriminals are aware of
these alerts, and they’re taking advantage of them. They send you a text
with dangerous links, or prompt you to respond with personal information by
posing as your bank, an online account, or another service, to name a few
examples. Short Message Service (SMS) or text-based phishing scams are
called smishing, and cybercriminals have taken a liking to them.
How It Works
Cybercriminals are constantly coming up with new ways to “smish” you.
They can pose as a familiar organization or service and send alarming
alerts such as “Your account has been locked due to multiple failed logins,”
accompanied by a link to supposedly resolve the issue. Smishing links can
contain malware that instantly installs if you tap them. This malware can
contain keystroke-logging software or permit access to your applications
and data, making it easy for scammers to steal your identity or hold your
data for ransom.
Smishing attacks can also try to trick you into calling a number by telling
you there’s been an issue with your account or that suspicious activity has
been detected. But there’s no issue with your account. If you call the
number, a cybercriminal will answer and try to persuade you to provide
personal information or make a payment so that you can “access your
account.” Awareness of cybercriminals’ tactics can keep you safe from
smishing.
How Can I Stay Safe?
Remember that government agencies, banks, or other legitimate
organizations will never request sensitive information via text message.
Remember to stop and think before taking action! Like in email
phishing, text scammers often use the social engineering tactic of
creating a false sense of urgency in their messages.
Never tap on any links or call any phone numbers in unexpected
texts. If you would like to verify the text message, contact the
sending organization directly.
Chaplain's Corner

There is no better holiday than Thanksgiving for us to reflect on the good in the world, and what we have to be thankful for. It marks the beginning of the exciting, busy and hectic holiday season.
Me personally? I’m thankful for each and every one of you.
I’m thankful for the brother who holds the door open for the person behind him, wherever he goes. I’m thankful for the brother who makes sure Lodge widows are being cared for. Thankful for the brother who drives his car safely especially with his Masonic license plate proudly displayed.
Thankful for the future brother just beginning his journey, and especially thankful for the brother about to lay down his working tools for the final time.
I’m thankful that the Masonic tradition isn’t just one man’s story – it’s our shared responsibility to always walk uprightly in our several stations before God and man. It’s our responsibility to ensure the Masonic tradition continues.
My request of you this holiday, would each of you call one brother on Thanksgiving and thank him for being a brother? Wish him and those he cares about a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season. Maybe we can reach all of our Boca-Delray 171 Masons!
May the GAOTU continue to watch over all those in need, especially those who cannot be with their loved ones during this holiday season.
May G-d bless you, your families, our great fraternity and may G-d bless America!
Fraternally,
W∴Howie Zimmerman

The Founding Story of Delray Lodge No. 171
On January 22, 1908, a new chapter in Florida Masonry was written with the chartering of Delray Lodge No. 171. What began as a gathering of just fifteen dedicated Masons quickly grew into one of the most enduring fraternal institutions in South Florida.
These founding members did not come solely from Delray’s sandy shores. They carried with them the legacies, customs, and traditions of lodges far beyond the young community’s borders—bringing together a remarkable blend of Masonic heritage.
A Brotherhood of Diverse Origins
The charter members of Delray Lodge hailed from some of the state’s most established lodges, including Fort Pierce No. 87, Indian River No. 90, and Harmonia No. 138. They were joined by brethren from Wenona No. 256 and Salina No. 155 in Michigan, Arkadelphia No. 381 in Arkansas, and even Benton Lodge No. 30 from the Indian Territory—what we know today as Oklahoma.
Each of these lodges represented not just geographic diversity but a wide spectrum of American Masonic experience. Michigan and Arkansas Masons brought with them the traditions of the northern and western jurisdictions. But it was the influence from the Indian Territory that gave Delray Lodge a truly historic connection to a unique chapter of Masonic history.
The Legacy of Benton Lodge No. 30
Before Oklahoma gained statehood in 1907, the Indian Territory was home to a vibrant Masonic community. Benton Lodge No. 30, under the Grand Lodge of the Indian Territory, was one of its notable members. Established when Native nations still governed their own lands, the lodge operated at a time when Freemasonry was deeply intertwined with Native American leadership.
Many of the territory’s most influential leaders—including Cherokee Chief John Ross, General Stand Watie, and Choctaw leader Peter Pitchlyn—were Freemasons. Their lodges were more than meeting halls; they were centers of diplomacy, education, and community life in a region where whites were initially barred from permanent settlement.
By 1874, the Grand Lodge of the Indian Territory had grown to include at least eight lodges, nearly all led by Native Masons. When Oklahoma became a state in 1907, the Grand Lodge of the Indian Territory merged with the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma. In this way, Benton Lodge’s heritage became part of the Masonic story of the new state—and, by extension, part of the DNA of Delray Lodge No. 171.
A Lodge Rooted in Tradition and Growth
When the fifteen charter members established Delray Lodge, they weren’t merely creating a new local body. They were blending Masonic traditions from across the American landscape. This melting pot of influences gave Delray Lodge a unique identity—firmly grounded in Florida, yet connected to the broader national and even Native-led Masonic story.
In the decades that followed, Delray Lodge would grow alongside the city of Delray Beach itself. Through hurricanes, wars, and waves of migration, the Lodge remained a steady anchor of fraternity, charity, and moral instruction. Its early foundation, built on such a diverse set of Masonic roots, gave it resilience and perspective uncommon among lodges of its era.
